Citizen-Citizenship
A citizen, in my opinion, is a person who has a legal identity in a certain country. Irrespective of his or her country of origin, political, social, or religious status, a person can live in another part of the world and be considered a member of that country. However, in order for that person to be a part of the nation he dwells in by law, he/she needs to possess a legal status, which in this case is a citizenship. By having a citizenship, a citizen would be able to enjoy the various privileges and rights which it offers. For instance, a citizen would be granted the freedom to vote, which basically means that he/she would have the right to have a say in who should be elected and rule over them. Secondly, being a citizen means that someone can be considered as a member of his/her local community. That's to say, people can take part in various events where they can interact with others and get to know each other better, therefore leading to a healthy relationship amongst them. Thirdly, another privilege of a citizen is that of job opportunities. A citizen is able to apply for any job which meets his standards and, as a result, be able to sustain himself/herself financially. However, along with the rights and privileges which entitled to a person with a citizenship, there are duties that a citizen must do. The first and foremost duty is to abide by the law, refraining from committing any action against it. Second of all, male citizens (when required) should serve their country. Last but not least, a citizen must do the absolutely one thing which will never leave any person until he/she dies: pay taxes. Therefore, having written all these, I believe that such is the characteristic of a citizen: someone who not only can enjoy the benefits of life in his country but also be an active member in society as a whole.
